Development engineer, solid mechanics, noise and vibration
Technology Support at ABB AB, Corporate Research, offers expertise and experimental resources to ABB globally. 30 persons work as internal consultants, offering advanced problem solving and supporting development projects in the fields of materials, chemistry and mechanics. We mostly
work directly in contact with ABB division’s technical department but also support Corporate Research development projects in the frame of research programs. We offer a stimulating work environment with challenging technical issues, a cross-disciplinary approach to problem solving and a large network of technical partners.
Job description
As a development engineer you will work both in our mechanical and acoustic laboratories, the common denominator factor for both laboratories being measurement techniques and data acquisition. The work will be performed in close cooperation with our technical specialists, simulation experts and our partners from ABB divisions. Within development projects or depending on customer request, you will define the scope of the testing, plan and conduct experiments, evaluate and communicate the results, as well as being responsible for the financial frame of the testing. The measurements are conducted within our well equipped laboratories or at customer sites. Many of our measurement methods are tailor-made for the need of a specific project or product and therefore part of the work will consist in method development.
Your profile
Preferably you hold a M.Sc. in Mechanics and have practical experience of tasks in machine acoustics. You have experience from working in laboratories and with development projects. You have good understanding of the physical phenomena and solids mechanics (especially noise and vibration) and have experience of measurement techniques (instrumentation and data acquisition
and analysis). You are action oriented, analytical, customer oriented and have a genuine interest in solving technical problems. You have good communication skill, both orally and in writing.
